The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, frequently leaving little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of walking around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the concern of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It’s established the Middle East’s very first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It’s proving lucrative too, currently their client-list includes McDonald’s.
